8x8 page about me

One of the current challenges for our SBS-27 group is to create an 8x8 scrapbook page about yourself. Those who choose to participate will send their pages to the coordinator, who will copy the pages and send them to the rest of us. I'm looking forward to seeing what the other girls make. Here's mine:

Neice and Nephew BD

I made these cards for our twin neice and nephew in Florida. I used a couple sketch challenges to inspire me. Tyler's card is based on thsi week's Caardvarks sketch, and I got to use my new Nestabilities (Labels One) for the first time. Love them!

Skylar is a girly-girl, so her cards always have pink and glitter. I used the WSC73 sketch from Cami's blog for her card and cupcakes from an Inkadinkado set that I've never used.

Happy Sunday, friends.

Pay It Forward (PIF)

I've been fortunate enough to meet some very generous papercrafters since I started blogging. Many of them offer giveaways, challenges with a prize for one participant, and PIFs. PIFs are just giveaways with the expectation that you'll turn around and do the same for someone else.

I found this idea on the blog of one of my SBS 27 sisters, Cheri, while reading the blogs I follow. The first 5 people to respond to this post will get something made by me. My choice - for you. It could be a card I really like, an altered object or something else all together. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2. What I create will be made with you in mind so you won't get something I already made unless I think it suits you to a T.
3. It'll be done sometime this year (I will want to get it done in the next few weeks).
4. You have no clue what it's going to be.
5. The catch? Oh, the catch is you must offer this blog candy on your blog.

Re-post this on your blog, offer something you make - your choice - to the first 5 people who do the same on your blog (then come here and post). Add my name to the #1 slot on your card- I am your first participant. When you create your give away, you will become the first participant on the new list for the people who participate with you.

The first 5 people to do so (and leave a comment here telling me they did) win a handmade gift by me. Oh, and be sure to post a picture of what you win when you get it! SO ...................who will be the first 5 people????

Butterfly card

Since I had so much fun with the last pattern card I tried from the Paper Crafts magazine website, I decided to try another one. I needed a sympathy card for my friend whose mother passed away, and I thought the butterfly would be a great symbol of hope. If you're interested, you can find the pattern here.

Mom's BD present

I had a productive (crafty) Saturday, so I wanted to share with my crafty friends.

My mom's a St. Patty's Day baby, so I'm working on her birthday presents. I searched for online for project ideas and made this coupon holder for her. It uses some of my favorite paper (from Basic Grey - which I'm sure Marge loves, too :) and I'm pretty happy with it. It sits a little crooked, but I think Mom will still like it. (Here are the directions.)

I saw a card similar to this shamrock one on Splitcoast today, but unfortunately I didn't save the link to share.

Finally, this pink dress card is for my friend Jen who had a baby back in December. (Hopefully better late than never!) I got the pattern from Paper Crafts magazine and just loved it.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Top Note Purse

So I came upon the cutest idea while blog hopping (and I'm not even sure how I got there). I like the original better (click here to see Becky's sample and directions), but I guess this isn't too bad for my first one. It'd be a cute little gift holder. Have I mentioned I really love my Top Note die? Enjoy!

Mojo Monday 76

As always, I had lots of fun playing with today's Mojo Monday sketch on this cold snow day. I like the white space around the outside of this card and the bow at the top. Hope you're staying warm if you're in middle of this storm.

Flower Challenge

I challenge my SBS-27 sisters to make a flower card, since it snowed here in Maryland last night, and I'm really getting tired of the cold winter wind. If you want to play, make a spring-inspired card with flowers. They can be stamped flowers, flower embellishments, flower paper, or anything else with flowers.

My card is below. It uses Pocket Silhouettes and Short and Sweet stamp sets, both from Stampin Up. The paper is Blush from Basic Grey (love that line). My card is based on this card I saw on Peg's blog and loved.

This challenge isn't for blog candy (sorry). I just wanted to inspire us to get our group going. Can't wait to see what people make. Hope you're having a great weekend.

Mojo Monday 75

I had more fun with sketches this morning. I just love the ones from Mojo Monday, especially with all of the layers and scalloped edges. I didn't like the first card I made, so I went back and made another one with this sketch, which I like a lot better. It might even be my mom's birthday card. I love the look of sewing on cards, so I dusted off my sewing machine this morning and added an extra touch to the card. Happy Sunday morning!
My second attempt (the one I like)

My first attempt (I figured I should leave it on here, even though I don't love it.)

Weekend Sketch Challenge 70

Each weekend, Beate posts a sketch challenge, and although I haven't done this one in a while, I really love working from sketches. This weeekend's sketch comes from Lori - check it out. Here's my take on the sketch.

Teenage Birthday Card

Our neice, Aven, turns 13 next weekend, so I need a card to send her. I made these 3 evening, and I'm going to give my husband the choice of which one to send her. Check them out and let me know which one gets your vote. :)

The first one is based on a sketch by Mary-Jo Price-Williams at Technostamper. I used more of the American Crafts rub-ons and paper I got on sale at JoAnns today. (Gotta love 5 for 95 cents.)

The next card is based on a sketch from Tami at CPS (sketch CPS 103). The glittery, striped paper is from the DCWV "All Dressed Up" matstack. Fun, fun.

The last one uses paper from the DCWV "Animal Crackers" matstack and 2 of my favorite colors - pink and brown.

Sorry that the pictures are slightly dark and fuzzy. My good camera refuses to behave, so I'm using Lou's camera. Hopefully I can get mine fixed this week. Have a good one.

Mojo Monday #74

I've been having so much fun with Mojo Monday sketches, and this week's is no exception.

The other card I made this morning based on a card I saw on Courtney's blog. I needed a masculine touch to it, so I went with blue, yellow, and brown. Both cards also use brown American Crafts rub-ons I just got ($2 a pack at Big Lots)!

Cuttlebugging Away

You know how you see an awesome card on someone's blog, and you think, "I can make that" - but when you do, it never looks as good as the original? That's I often feel about my cards, but I'm happy to say that this one I made yesterday is the exception. I saw these great monochromatic cards with Cuttlebug embossing templates on Glenda's blog, and I loved them. I needed a happy birthday card for my former boss, and here's my take on Glenda's cards.

The 2nd card involves more playing with my favorite Christmas present - the Top Note die. (My Cuttlebug really got a workout!) My college roommate had a baby girl a few weeks ago, so this card is for her.

Enjoy the last day of the long weekend!

Mojo Monday 73

I've been playing with the sketches from Mojo Monday once again, and I love how they force me outside of m y comfort zone to make some unique cards. I need to put 3 birthday cards in the mail tomorrow morning, so here's what I made. The first one uses this week's Mojo Monday sketch, #73.

The next card 2 cards are loosely based on previous Mojo Monday sketches. Thanks for the inspiration, Julee!

Mojo Monday 41

41? I know - how do you go from 72 to 41? Well, I was having so much fun with the Mojo Monday Sketch blog that I went back to find the first 70 sketches and printed them for inspiration. (In case you want them, they're on Julee's other blog, Poetic Artistry.)

I took this sketch and made my college roommate Heather's birthday card. I love these sketches! :) The stamps are from the Inkadinkado set I got at Costco before Christmas.
Have a great day. Is it Friday yet?
