Birthday Pup

Daisy turned 4 years old yesterday. I got her doggy ice cream, and I just love this shot of her - licking her lips in anticipation. The funniest part was that when I went to give it to her, Lou said, "Hold on. I need to get the camera. It's her first ice cream." As I was laughing, he said, "Oh my gosh. Look what you've done to me. I'm thinking about taking pictures for your scrapbooks." Too funny!

3's a charm

I can't believe this is my 3rd post today - or that I made 8 cards today. Of course, this could only mean one thing: I'm procrastinating things I should be doing. It's true; I should be working on papers for my internship, but I just can't get inspired. Looks like that's on my Sunday to-do list.

So here are the last 2 cards. The first one is a sympathy card for my husband's stepbrother's wife (since her father passed away). It's pretty simple, but I figured simple and understated are good for a sympathy card. Thanks for lending me the stamp, Wendi.

The last card is for the challenge at Cute Card Thursday that challenges their readers to make a card with the theme of "people" - any people. I chose Ballonabella, as I've only used her once since I got her. I also broke out the Cuttlebug and Crop-a-dile for this card - gotta love the toys!

Part 2

Here are the other 3 cards I made from my afternoon in the scrapbook room with my friend Michele. The first one is for the sketch at Card Positioning Systems' blog. This is the first time I used my new Magnolia stamp, and I really like her.

The next card is using the sketch from My Paper World. I found this paper in my stash and haven't used it in a while - another great perk of challenges.

The final card I made is for the challenge at Arty Girlz blog. It says, "Make something that includes chocolate! Chocolate coloured paper, ribbons, flowers, chocolate smelling embossing powder. A chocolate cake perhaps! The only other condition is that it HAS to include only one other colour (oh ok I'll let you have white too then lol)."

With a Little Help from My Friend....

My friend Michele came over to crop this afternoon. Michele and I worked at our local scrapbook store together a few years ago and love to catch up over scrapbooking and card making sessions (although not often enough).

I wasn't in the mood to scrapbook today, so I made 6 cards for challenges or sketches I found online. I told her she needs to come over more often because I'm very productive when she's here!

The first card is from Di Hickman's blog challenge - make a birthday card with pink, black, and white. It's a little hard to see in the picture, but the pink is vellum printed with pink daisies.

The next card fits the sketch from Sketches from Tamara. It's not something I would have done on my own, but I guess that's the good thing about sketches - streching us beyond our regular designs.

The last one for this set is for the sketch at Papertake Weekly. I pulled out an SU set I haven't used in a while, but I do like the dragonfly.

I made 3 more cards, so I'll post them later. Have a great Saturday afternoon!

8th Birthday

My husband's twin neice and nephew turn 8 years old on Monday, so I used my new Cuttlebug embossing folder to make them cards. (The pictures are a little dark, but when I used my flash, I couldn't see the other embossed numbers as well.) In case I have't said it lately, I just love the Cuttlebug! :) Happy Friday night, girls.

And the winner is......

Thanks so much for all of the entries on my blog candy. I got a lot of good color combination ideas to try. :)

So I asked my DH to pick a number from the comments, and he picked #7. So comment # 7 comes from Sally: Today my favorite is lime green and orange with a little hot pink thrown in.

Congratulations, Sally! Email me your address, and I'll put the goodies in the mail to you. Enjoy!

Inspired

I've subscribed to the Yahoo group "Stamin UP with Beate" since I read about it on someone's blog, and I love looking at everyone's creations. I saved a few that I really liked and used them as the inspiration for these cards. (Sorry I don't remember who made each inspiration card.)

Pink with flowers challenege

I made this card for the challenge over at Megastamper's blog. To win the blog candy, you have to make "a card or atc or tag ... in ROSA and use flowers for the coming spring." It has to be posted by today, so if you want to play, get crafting! :)

Beach view

Oooh, look- my blog counter's getting near 1,000 hits. I'll have to offer blog candy when I get there. :)

I don't have any cards to show for the last 2 days, as we went to Ocean City for a mini-getaway. Here's a picture to get you in the beachy mood. I know I'm ready to go back now! I'm planning to play in my craft room this afternoon, so hopefully I'll have things to post. Have a great Easter, girls.

Hanging around

Cards for Heroes

A few weeks ago, I read about the Cards for Heroes program from my SBS-8 sister Kim's blog. They're now asking people to make Mother's Day and Father's Day cards to send overseas to the troops for them to send home. I think this is such an incredible program, and with friends and former students serving overseas, I'm just glad to be able to do something, however small. If you send cards by April 11th, you'll be entered in a challenge for blog candy, so check it out here.

Here are a few cards I made for Cards for Heroes today. I kept them simple, as I made a bunch of them, and I wasn't sure how heavily embellished cards would ship. (The Father's Day card is based on a sketch from Technostamper's challenge.)

Please consider making some cards for this program. I know they'll be much appreciated.

Weekend Fun

I started my Sunday morning the way I love to start my Sundays.... making cards for online challenges. Here are 3 I made this morning.

The first one is for Sketches by Tamara using a sketch she posted. I also used a new stamped image from my RAK package from Cathy (very fun).

The next one is for the challenge on Daring Card Makers to make a card for a teen. I used paper from last year's Summer Stack (from Diecuts With a View). I love these challenges because they make me pull out things in my stash that I haven't used in a while.

The last card I made this morning is for the challenge at the Arty Girlz blog to make a cards with stars. I used my new Cuttlebug die for the big star and an old punch for the little ones. Have a great Sunday.

Awesome RAK from Cathy

Last month I accidentally stumbled on Courtney's monthly RAK exchange. (She should have info about the April one on her blog soon, if you want to play.) I had never done anything like this but thought it would be fun to exchange goodies with someone I'd never met. Boy was I right!

Today I got an awesome package from Cathy (my RAK partner) with an Easter card, some cute stamped images (including an adorable dog one I can't wait to use), lots of spring-colored ribbon, puffy flowers, and a precious bunny stamp. I love everything - thanks so much, Cathy! I can't wait to play with it. Here are pictures of my goodies.

My SBS-8 sister Han also has a contest going for some pretty blog candy. Check it out!

Thanks, ladies. :)

A couple quick cards

Happy Saturday night. Hope you all are enjoying your weekend. I made these 2 cards this morning to go in the pile for my friend's gift. The first one uses the sketch from Tamara and a new birthday stamp I'm using for the first time.
The second card uses one of my favorite QuicKutz dies, the bunny. It's for the challenge at Card Makers, that asks you to created a card with a cross, an Easter Egg, or an Easter bunny.

I have a few more challenges I want to tackle this weekend, so hopefully I'll get to them tomorrow. Have a great night (if you're still awake).

PS - My Magnolia's came the other day (*insert happy dance*), so look for them to make an appearance soon!

I won blog candy!

How fun! I feel like I always enter things and never win, so it was great to come home late from work last night and find a happy email waiting for me. Lisa, one of the designer's from Clear Artistic Stamps, chose me from her blog to win any single stamp of my choosing. Here's the cutey-pie I picked. Can't wait to use it - thanks, ladies!

I've Been Tagged....

My new RAK friend Cathy tagged me to answer the following. I just did this on email for my mom a few weeks ago, so here are my answers from that ....

Four jobs I have had in my life: teacher, ice cream shop girl, dry cleaner employee, camp counselor

Four movies I would watch over and over: American President, When Harry Met Sally, Footloose, Sweet Home Alabama

Four places I have lived: Ellicott City, MD; Frederick, MD; Selinsgrove, PA; Westminster, MD

Four TV shows that I watch: Friends (re-runs), Grey's Anatomy, Men in Trees, pretty much anything on HGTV

Four places I have been: Coronado, CA; visiting lighthouses in Maine; Disney World; Ocean City, MD

Four of my favorite foods: Mom's chicken divan, Mom's lasagna, chocolate covered strawberries (yummy!!), ice cream

Four places I'd rather be: at the beach, Hawaii, at a lighthouse, napping with Daisy

So..... of course, I get to tag people now. I tag all of my SBS-8 sisters to share their answers. I look forward to reading them!

Card Purse

I found a tutorial on JoAnna's blog to make this adorable card purse, so I had to give it a try. (If you're going to try it, you'll need the link to part 1 of the tutorial and part 2.) It was quick, easy, and I'm happy with the way it turned out. My friend from high school had a birthday last week, so I think I'll make her some cards and give them to her in this purse.

PS - JoAnna has some fun blog candy on her blog, but you only have until midnight tonight to enter - check it out!
