Weekend Creations

If you ever have the chance to go away and scrapbook with friends for the weekend, I highly recommend it! My friends and I joined my Aunt Debbie and her friends at a weekend crop in Gettysburg this past weekend and had a great time. There were over 100 women there, cropping from Friday at 6pm til Sunday at 4pm. Whew! Here's a picture of me, Beth, and Michele, surrounded by piles and piles of crafty toys.


I thought I'd share a few things I made this weekend, too. 2 of my friends from work and my boss all have birthdays today, so I made a bunch of cards. The first one is made with one of my favorite papers (and color combinations).

The second one I made using sketch#70 from Mojo Monday, but I didn't get it posted here in time to to enter it on their blog. Oh well - I still liked how it turned out, and I used some new paper I got over Christmas when visiting the in-laws in Florida.

This weekend, I also made 20 baby thank you notes for my college big sister, who's having her second baby boy in a few months. I made similar notes for a mutual friend and she really liked them, so I'm shipping them off to Jersey soon.

Finally, I did do a few scrapbook pages, too, and I figured I'd share my 2 favorites. The first one is from our anniversary this year. I just loved the Gerbera daisies Lou sent me, so I had to take pictures and scrap them (of course).

I also made a scrapbook page about my weight loss. I usually like the look of typed journalling better, but I figured since this was such a personal page, I'd hand write it.

Blog Candy Winner

I was away the last 3 days on a scrapbooking weekend in Gettysburg, and I finished 10 pages and about 40 cards. Whew! I'll upload some of them later. Hope you have a great day.

Birthday cards (Paper Craft sketch)

I just realized that I needed to make 2 quick birthday cards, so these are fairly basic, but I'm happy with them. The first one is for my sister-in-law (brother's wife). They live in Alaska, so I figured I'd use flowery paper to remind her of spring and warmer weather. The card is based on the sketch challenge (sk011709) at Paper Craft Planet.

The second card is for my friend from work. I just found out his birthday was 2 weeks ago, but I figure better late than never. I like this stamp from the "Starring You" set from SU. The card also uses my favorite masculine paper from Basic Grey.

Happy MLK day. Ours is snowy and cold, but it's always nice to have a day off. Enjoy!

Cards 4 Kids

I came across this amazing program and just had to share it with my crafty friends. (There are more details on Pat's blog, but I'll summarize it.) Basically, Pat works with a children's hospital to provide handmade cards (blank inside) for sick children to send to their friends and family. They asked her to collect 1,000 Valentines for the kids to send, so she's asking for help. (She needs the Valentines by 2/7/09, but she accepts other cards like birthday, thinking of you, etc all year long.) Here are the 5 Valentines I sent her today. I'm hoping to make some more.

If you go to her blog, MANY of her friends are offering blog candy if you send Pat some cards for the kids, so check it out. Office birthdays

Our secretary and our team leader at work both had birthdays yesterday, so I made these cards for them. I got the idea for the first one from Mary Jo's blog - she even has a tutorial entitled "Fun with the Top Note die".

The second one is pretty basic, but it was the first time I used the cupcake stamp that came with the Inkadinkado set from Costco.

Mojo Monday 69

I'm still having fun with my new stamp, as I'm sure you can tell. I used the Mojo Monday 69 sketch as the inspiration for this card for my co-worker. I also used used some of my all-time favorite paper - Two Scoops from Basic Grey. Happy Tuesday.

Mojo Monday 68

I made this card for the Mojo Monday 68 Challenge. This is my first time participating in one of their sketch challenges, but I always love a good sketch, and this was no exception.

I'm sending this card to my friend Beth, who gave me this stamp for Christmas. Love it! The stamp is from Unity Stamps, the paper's from The Paper Studio (Emily line), the ink is Distress Ink (fired brick and vintage photo), and gold Stickles add the finishing touches.

Masculine Valentine

I figured if I was posting a challenge, I should try it myself. This is my take on a masculine Valentine's Day card, using the "Love Matters" set. It was inspired by this card I found on Splitcoast. Can't wait to see your masculine Valentine!

Valentine Blog Candy and Challenge

OK ladies, I think we need a challenge to get us inspired. (I know I do!) I put together a goody package of blog candy to go to the winner of this challenge. The prizes include 3-D stickers, rub-ons, tags, ribbon, envelopes, and more.

Here's what you have to do to be entered in the blog candy challenge. Create a masculine Valentine's Day card. This is always the biggest challenge to me this time of year, because I naturally gravitate towards pink, flowers, hearts, and glitter, which don't exactly scream "GUY."

There are no limits on the card - just create a masculine Valentine's card and post it on your blog. Then come back to this blog entry and post a comment with a link to your card. Make sense? If not, feel free to ask questions. Hope to see lots of cards - tell your friends so we all get good ideas!

Valentine ideas

I needed something fun and relaxing tonight, so I came in my newly-cleaned craft room and took out all of my Valentine stamps. I made these 3 cards to get started, and while I'm not madly in love with any of them, they'll do. I'm hoping to play again soon and find some more ideas from online.

Sisterhood of the Blogging Stampers #27

Hi ladies!

My name is Kelly, and I'm 33 years old. I live in Maryland with my husband and our "baby," a 4 year old Bichon Frise named Daisy. (She's also featured in several posts and numerous scrapbook pages - I guess that's what happens when you don't have kids yet!)

After teaching high school English for 8 years, I now work in Professional Development for a local school system, training teachers and working especially with our new teachers, which I really enjoy.

I found the siterhood site when searching around other stamping and scrapping blogs, and it looked like fun. I joined SBS-8 about this time last year and had a great time meeting new people and being inspired by their work. Our group isn't active any more, so a couple of the other girls decided to join a new SBS group to continue the fun, and I just couldn't resist! I started my blog a little over a year ago, but I've been crafting, stamping, and scrapbooking for years. Thanks for stopping by - can't wait to see your work.

Top Note thank you cards

My aunt got me the awesome Top Note die by Sizzix (from Stampin Up) for Christmas. I'd been wanting it, and she just happened to ask what I wanted when I had just seen some really cool ideas with it. Since it's my favorite new toy, I had to use it to make thank you notes for Christmas. :)
